He started out with just the one truck and was hauling interstate cartage for a number of years. It didn't take long for Brian to gain a foot hold within the transport industry and expand his fleet as he was highly recommended by his clients to other prospective clients.
Brian soon started servicing wharf cartage when containers did not exist and you needed to pick your freight out of a large pile in a shed and sometimes you needed a few days to get all of the consignment together.
In the very early 80s B.J.MATTHEWS became proudly associated with John Deere and to this day the company still carts most of the John Deere machinery off the wharf and all of their container freight.
